Gentle Range is a gentle stretching app: short workouts with a calm voice to guide you, a moving picture to follow, an easier option on each move and a fully seated Chair Session, for desk days, stiff mornings, travel and bedtime. Sworkit is a broad fitness app with strength, cardio and yoga, and it suits people who want one app for every kind of exercise.

If you want to slow down and loosen up, start with Gentle Range. If you want a full exercise library, Sworkit is the stronger fit. Prices and app details here are as of October 2026, from each app’s own pages.

Gentle Range or Sworkit: which fits today?

It depends on the day. A Saturday with room to move is a different job from a Tuesday at four o’clock with sore shoulders. For the slow days, here is how they compare.

What is Gentle Range built for?

Slow, comfortable movement, guided so you do not have to think. A calm voice talks you through the moves, a moving picture shows what to do, and short written steps sit underneath. It counts your breaths, calls the side switches and counts you down at the end, so you can look away from the screen. The voice is made with voice software, and some of the newest moves use your phone’s own voice for now.

Holds stay comfortable, and you choose how far to go. Each move has an easier option and a short “Take care” note, and Extra Gentle uses small, supported moves for low-energy days. Nothing scolds you for a missed day.

It is built for people who would rather not get on the floor. Every workout shows whether it is standing, seated or on the floor. Chair Session is free and fully seated, and Daily Fit has a Floor-free switch. If you want to see what a short break looks like, our guide to a five minute stretch break at work has a minute-by-minute plan.

There are no ads in the app, it works offline, no account is needed, and it runs on iPhone and Android. One honest point: you can pick your time in Gentle Range too, so length is not what separates the two apps. The kind of movement is.

Gentle, not medical. Gentle Range is general wellness content, not medical treatment. Stay in a comfortable range and stop if anything hurts. If you have an injury or condition, ask a professional first. The same goes for any workout app.

What do your answers say?

Which one is for you?

Mostly A: choose Gentle Range if

  • You want slow, comfortable stretching, with no pace to keep up with.
  • You would rather stay seated or never get down on the floor.
  • You want a calm voice to guide you, so you can look away from the screen.
  • You want an easier option on each move and a no-scolding tone.
  • You want it offline, with no account and no ads, on Android or iPhone.

Mostly B: choose Sworkit if

  • You want strength, cardio, yoga or a family workout in the same app.
  • You like picking a type and a length and getting on with it.

Split between A and B: use both

This is the most common answer, and it is a good one. Use Sworkit on the days you want to exercise, and Gentle Range on the days you want to loosen up. Our view: if you only pick one for slow days, pick Gentle Range. If you wonder how often is enough, our guide on how often you should stretch keeps it simple.

Where is Sworkit stronger?

It covers a great deal more ground. On the App Store it is called Sworkit Fitness & Wellness App, made by Nexercise, Inc. Its website lists strength training, stretching, cardio and yoga, and says you can pick any time from 1 to 90 minutes. Both its website and its App Store page cite more than 500 workouts and over 900 exercises. The App Store page adds HIIT, Tabata, Tai Chi, Pilates, a library of kids workouts and six-week guided plans, with one-to-one help from trainers. Its website says it works on iPhone, Android and the web.

If you want one app for exercise days, with strength and cardio in the same place, that is a real strength.

What about a stiff Tuesday at your desk?

Say it is four in the afternoon and your shoulders have crept up around your ears. You do not want a workout. You want six minutes that make the afternoon feel different.

That is the job Gentle Range is made for. Neck & Shoulders is free and made for desk tension, and Quick Reset is a short standing break. For stretches you can do right now without any app, try our desk stretches for a stiff back. Open Gentle Range, press play and let the voice do the counting.

Fair comparison note: Sworkit is a product name or trademark of its owner. JPott Studios is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by it. What we say here comes from its own pages and public store listings, read in October 2026, and may have changed since, so please check the source before you decide. Lines marked “our view” are our opinion.

Gentle Range and Sworkit: your questions

Is Gentle Range or Sworkit better for a stiff body or older adults?

Gentle Range is made for slow, comfortable holds with seated options and an easier option on each move. Sworkit has many types, including yoga and Tai Chi, so look at the type you choose. Ask a professional first if you have an injury or condition, since neither app is medical treatment.

Does Sworkit have stretching workouts?

Yes. Its website lists stretching among its workout types, along with strength, cardio and yoga. Gentle Range is built around stretching and easy movement.

Can I choose how long my workout is?

In both. In Gentle Range you can pick a time in Daily Fit, and workouts run from 5 minutes to about an hour. In Sworkit you pick the time, and its website says anywhere from 1 to 90 minutes.

Which is better for a desk break?

A short, gentle stretch tends to fit a desk break best, and Gentle Range has desk and chair workouts for that, such as the free Neck & Shoulders. Sworkit lets you pick a very short time too, so either can fill the gap.

Is Gentle Range free?

It has free workouts for good, including a fully seated Chair Session, and Premium is $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year, as of October 2026. Sworkit is free to download, with a free 7-day trial and a subscription for most workouts, according to its App Store page.

Do I need any equipment?

Gentle Range stretching needs none, though a few strength workouts use a chair, a wall or light weights. For Sworkit, check the workout type you pick.
