How Gentle Range handles your data.

Published July 15, 2026 · Covers app version 1.0.0

The short version

Your sessions stay on your device. Gentle Range works local-first. There are no advertising SDKs and no remote behavioural tracking. When optional analytics configuration is present, the app may send anonymous usage counts (feature tallies, app version, and platform) tied to a random per-install tag, never your sessions, routines, or anything you type; it is on by default and can be turned off in Settings. When sign-in is set up, you can use a free account. If sign-in is not available, you can continue on that device locally. Your stretching history is not sent to JPott Studios unless you turn on optional encrypted sync.

Network processing happens only when a feature that needs it is used, verifying a purchase with the app store, or optional encrypted sync if you turn it on.

What Gentle Range stores on your device

The app keeps the following in private app storage on your phone:

These counters stay on the device and power your own progress display. See “Anonymous usage counts” below for the one limited, opt-out exception.

Anonymous usage counts

When optional analytics configuration is present in the build, Gentle Range can send anonymous usage counts how many times a feature is used (for example, sessions completed or routines created), plus the app version, the platform (iOS, Android, or web), and how many days since first use. These are tied to a random per-install tag that is not linked to any account, email, name, or device identifier, and identifies an install rather than a person.

This never includes your session history, custom routines, reminder times, personal wellness details, or anything you type. It is on by default and you can turn it off any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage. When no analytics configuration is present, nothing is sent at all.

Optional encrypted sync

Sync is optional and off unless you turn it on. The core app never requires it.

If you enable sync, an account email address and authentication records are processed by the sync provider so the service knows the records are yours. Your workout history and custom routines are encrypted on your device before they are uploaded. A separate sync passphrase may be used to derive an encryption key on your device; if you lose it, encrypted records may be unrecoverable. You can delete the service copy from the app's sync settings. See the data deletion guide.

Encryption reduces exposure, but no security measure is perfect. Keep your device, account password, sync passphrase, and exported files secure.

Purchases

Gentle Range Premium is a monthly or yearly subscription. Apple or Google processes the payment and provides purchase information. The app uses RevenueCat to fetch available products, validate receipts, restore access, and check whether Premium is active.

JPott Studios does not receive your payment-card details. RevenueCat and the app store may process a store receipt, product identifier, purchase status, country or storefront information, and an app-user identifier. See RevenueCat's privacy policy, Apple's privacy policy, and Google's privacy policy.

Permissions

PermissionWhy
NotificationsAn optional daily stretch reminder that you schedule. You can decline this, or turn it off later in device settings, and the app still works.
File picker and share sheetImport or export a backup file you choose. You pick the destination.

Gentle Range does not request your photo library, microphone, contacts, precise location, camera, or calendar.

Exports and backups

You can export a backup at any time. Your device then offers destinations such as Files, email, messaging, or cloud storage. JPott Studios does not receive that file.

Gentle Range backup files are ordinary JSON and are not encrypted by the app. They may contain readable personal content, including your session history and any custom routines. Store and send them carefully. Once you save a file somewhere, that destination's own terms and privacy practices apply.

Keeping and deleting data

Local data stays until you delete items, use an in-app clear-data control, replace data during a restore, or remove the app's data from your device. Operating-system backups and any copies you export are controlled by you and the platform you chose.

If you enabled sync, the app provides a control to delete the service copy. See the data and account deletion guide.

Children

Gentle Range is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. JPott Studios does not knowingly use the app to solicit personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided account information through sync, contact us so we can investigate.
